Wiz Khalifa came to New York to perform one of his first show since news of his break up with Amber Rose took the internet by storm last week. In the large ballroom of the popular Webster Hall, Wiz took the stage and performed a high energy set at an event put together by Verizon and Ad Week. Attendees ranged from button-downed professionals to celebrities like Michael Strahan.
Seeming like the weight of the world was lifted off his shoulders and like he was in a much more relaxed place, Wiz proclaimed the lesson of the night was “don’t over-think it,” Perhaps alluding to his newly updated relationship status, but he didn’t mention Rose once during the night; as he played his hand close to the cuff.
His set was high energy and revisited some of the commercial hits in his career. At one point, during Black and Yellow, the crowd had floor shaking. Going back to earlier in his catalog, songs like Taylor Gang did not get the same amount of energy from the crowd as his verse off of Miley Cyrus’ song 23. Keeping up with his stoner motif, Wiz sparked several joints throughout the set, before eventually handing one off to a fan to finish. The performance was supposed to end with We Dem Boyz, before deciding to perform an encore of Promises off his recently released Blacc Hollywood album.
